About the Lighting Research Center

  The Lighting Research Center (LRC) is    part of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute    of Troy, N.Y., and is the leading    university-based research center    devoted to lighting. The LRC offers the    world's premier graduate education in    lighting, including one- and two-year    master's programs and a Ph.D.    program. Since 1988 the LRC has built    an international reputation as a reliable    source for objective information about    lighting technologies, applications, and    products.                    Parsons School of Design Creating Masters of Light

Reflecting the growing importance of lighting as a discipline, the Parsons School of Design in New York, N.Y. has announced that it is creating a two-year Masters of Light program.

The curriculum offered beginning in September 2004 will continue to have a strong technical foundation, while expanding upon topics such as:

Light perception
Theory
History
Sociology
Daylighting
Sustainability
In addition, the new curriculum will allow lighting students to work directly with graduate students in architecture and interior design.

As Parsons Lighting Program director, JoAnne Lindsley will continue to guide a faculty of 30 designers and industry leaders. Lindsley is immediate past president of the International Association of Lighting Designers and principal of Lindsley Consultants, Inc.
